Laurier celebrates donors to Building Canada’s Best Business School campaign
Wilfrid Laurier University has announced four donations to its Lazaridis School of Business & Economics. The gifts are part of the university’s Building Canada’s Best Business School Campaign.
Cumulatively, the four donors, who represent alumni, friends and corporate partners of the university, have given more than $1.2 million to the Lazaridis School.
- Bob and Judy Astley: Judy is a Laurier graduate who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion & Culture in 1987. Bob received an honorary degree in 1996 in recognition of his service to the university. Both have served on Laurier’s Board of Governors and are active participants and supporters of many university activities.
- “We’re pleased to invest in excellence in education, as Laurier builds Canada’s Best Business School on a superb foundation. Canada will be well served.” – Bob and Judy Astley.
- KPMG has supported professorships, scholarships, competitions and learning spaces at Laurier and the Lazaridis School. In addition, KPMG is a dedicated employer, hiring both graduates and co-op students.

- John and Joyce Pollock: John served as Chancellor of Wilfrid Laurier University from March 2008 to October 2011. The Pollocks have contributed their time and financial support to many projects at Laurier.

- Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. has made several donations to support student international study opportunities. Various divisions of Toyota also recruit from Laurier regularly, hiring both graduates and co-op students.

The Building Canada’s Best Business School campaign is focused on enhancing the programs, research, financial support for students and learning spaces to help make Laurier’s School of Business & Economics the best business school in Canada. The most tangible example of the campaign, Lazaridis Hall, opened for classes this fall. So far, $41 million has been raised through the campaign.
“This campaign is about solidifying our position as the top undergraduate business school in Canada and laying the foundation for future excellence,” said Micheál Kelly, dean of the Lazaridis School. “We are very grateful to all of the donors who have stepped forward to be part of this goal.”
Fundraising for the Lazaridis School continues, as the university aims to raise a total of $55 million through the Building Canada’s Best Business School campaign.
