From great to best
The Lazaridis School of Business & Economics is an outstanding school. But my goal is to make it the best in Canada.
When I started at Laurier in July 2012, I spent time talking to people. Alumni, professors, students, and friends speak with pride and passion about the quality of our school. We have a terrific story to tell. And this campaign to Build Canada’s Best Business School is the first of many steps we’ll take to tell it.
A central part of our story is our 18,000 business and economics alumni who are leading some of the country’s top brands. They are steering companies such as BMO, Manulife, Second Cup, Kellogg, Toshiba and Ikea. They were students who excelled in case competitions. They thrived in the nurturing environment fostered by some of Canada’s greatest business scholars and teachers. They were surrounded by one of the best ecosystems for a business school that you will find anywhere in Canada. They are our very best ambassadors, and they are driving forward in this complex global economy.
This makes our school great. But, we aim to be the best.
It is time for this school to take a stand and redefine business education in Canada. We plan to do this by investing in our very best assets: our people. Through student scholarships, retaining our current blue-ribbon faculty and recruiting even more, by building a new and appropriately innovative building in which to learn, and by strengthening our unique, pioneering programming, we will be Canada’s Best Business School.
This is an exciting time to be involved in shaping business education. I invite you to join me as we Build Canada’s Best Business School.
